Stacked vs Loose Logs

Many Suppliers of Imported Crates vastly exaggerate how much is in a crate compared to a loose-filled bag.

Generally a 1.2m crate of eastern European logs will contain approx 0.9m3 stacked logs whereas a Super Jumbo will contain at least 1.15m3 or up to 30% more.

Brash constitutes a maximum 5% of small bits of burnable wood.  There is very little or no bark on our logs.  Our logs lose most of their bark through our unique drying and screening process ensuring customers are getting even more value for your money.  Imported logs usually have lots of bark as they are dried in rings rather than at Surefire Wood where our logs are split before being kiln dried.  This ensures our logs are dried to the centre of the logs killing any pests or disease while guaranteeing low moisture and higher quality.

If you are buying Crates at the minute, measure the actual wood inside and compare. Still confused!? Contact us and we would be happy to work it out for you.

We do our own comparison of what is in our bags compared to what it is stacked.

Below is a table comparison comparing our Bags versus volume of stacked wood. (Dimensions are for actual wood stacked only, and do not include crate dimensions):

 Log Size

Please note that while we do everything we can to ensure our firewood exceeds the above specification, a tolerance of -/+ 5% should be applied in all cases.
