Delivery Regions & Rates

Delivery is available across Ireland.

From Belfast to Bray, Dublin to Donegal, Letterkenny to Limerick, Cork to Castlebar, Galway to Glengormley.

Home Delivery is included to Republic of Ireland on all pallet orders.

Important Delivery Information

All our pallet deliveries are carried out by a third party courier, the Pallet Network, who will generally ring ahead to organise Home deliveries.  Please note this is not always possible and a note should always be left to ensure your delivery can be left somewhere secure if you are not at home.

While delivery is to kerb side, drivers usually go above and beyond to ensure that our pallets are in the best location for you as possible, and it always helps to be in on the day of delivery to lend a hand.  Please give clear instructions on where deliveries can be left using the 'special instructions for seller' section before checkout, or give us a call on 048 895 41116.

Delivery is included for all bulk/pallet orders.

Smaller orders have a €45 delivery fee.

IMPORTANT DELIVERY INFORMATION:

All deliveries made by the Surefire Wood would be considered as a heavyweight delivery and as such the transport company we use will generally use larger vehicles to make these deliveries. The vehicle is equipped with a tail lift and the goods will in most cases be palletized.

Pallet Delivery

While delivery is to kerb side, the delivery company drivers usually go above and beyond to ensure that our pallets are in the best location for you as possible, and it always helps to be in on the day of delivery. If you aren't going to be in, or you require delivery on a set day, please give clear instructions on where deliveries can be left using the 'special instructions for seller' section before checkout, or give us a call on 048 895 41116.

If you are concerned that a larger vehicle will have access problems or be subject to road restrictions, you are advised to contact the Surefire Wood prior to placing your order. We will then endeavour to make an alternative arrangement for you. The pallet can only be left on a flat, stone, concrete or tarmac surface, free from manhole or service covers which can be accessed by a manual pallet truck. The driver will be unable to push the pallet up or down inclines or across grass or gravel pathways.

Surefire Wood uses a third-party provider, one of the largest pallet networks, offering a comprehensive track and trace facility and a strong, reliable range of delivery services. However, as this is a road-based service, deliveries may occasionally be affected by external factors such as road closures, traffic, or other unforeseen disruptions.  While this service is not guaranteed, we work closely with our third-party provider to minimize delays and will keep you informed of any potential issues. Rest assured, we will make every effort to ensure your order arrives as scheduled.

When you are in receipt of your order, it is important to check the packaging for any visual damage to the goods and then sign for its safe arrival. If you are unfortunate enough to receive damaged goods or there are missing items, please make sure it is noted on the courier's paperwork. We also strongly suggest that you contact us directly as soon as possible to make sure we are aware of the problem.

If your order arrives as arranged but we are unable to deliver because you are not home (and have not agreed in advance to unattended delivery at your own risk being made), or there is insufficient space available for the vehicle to safely manoeuvre on the road AND operate a tail lift with goods weighing up to 1000KG, you will be liable for any additional costs incurred for the failed delivery and the goods either being returned or redelivery having to be arranged. The return delivery charge for failed deliveries incurs a €50 minimum charge per pallet.

Where goods are refused on delivery that are found to be undamaged on return, we reserve the right to pass on FULL carriage charges that we incur in returning the goods to us.

Orders received by 1pm, excluding pre-orders will be dispatched same day (Monday-Thursday), delivery is 1-7 working days (Excludes Bank Holidays). Friday & Weekend Orders will usually be despatched on the next Working Day.

All pallets are delivered to the kerbside as near as possible to the delivery address. It will then be the responsibility of the customer to ensure that the product is moved promptly and does not obstruct the carriageway or pavement.

Some local authorities may prosecute if an obstruction is not cleared. Surefire Wood and its agents will accept no responsibility for any obstruction. Access to your premises must be suitable for a 30ft (9.2m) heavy goods vehicle (for example, can a fire engine get to the drop off point?) If permits are required, they must be obtained by the customer.  All goods carried under RHA Conditions of Carriage 2020.

This does not affect your statutory rights.

If you have any special requirements please contact us before placing your order.

Completion of your order is agreement to our Terms & Conditions of Sale.

Why Kiln Dried instead of Seasoned? All Stove Manufacturers recommend Kiln Dried Firewood for burning versus Seasoned wood. This is because the consistency of Seasoned wood isn’t reliable.

Lots of firewood producers will tell you they have very dry wood and it has been seasoned for 6 months or more, but when you burn it, it smoulders in the fire and blackens the glass. It hasn’t been truly dried all the way through to the centre of the log and tested correctly for moisture content.

Firewood needs to be low in moisture to burn well and to produce maximum heat. High heat will reduce the build up of unwanted deposits of soot, creosote or ash in the chimney flue. Wood that has a high moisture content produces water vapour and gives a low heat which is too low to burn sap from the wood. This causes a build-up in the Stove, causing the glass to blacken and tar build up in the flue, affecting the performance of the stove, fire and chimney flue.

At Surefire Wood, our Kiln Dried logs and kindling are certified Woodsure ‘Ready to Burn’. They are guaranteed below 12% moisture content for Kindling and 20% for Logs, which makes them ideal for burning in wood-burning stoves, open fires and firepits as they catch alight easily and burn for a long time with a high heat.

Find out more in our why Kiln-dried Firewood blog post.

We offer two log size options to suit different stoves and heating needs:

  • Normal Logs are our standard size, measuring approximately 8 inches (20cm) in length. These are suitable for use in most stoves and open fires, including smaller models.
  • Chunky Logs are larger and thicker – both in length and diameter – and are designed for customers with larger stoves, outdoor fire pits, or those who prefer longer burn times with fewer refuels.

⚠️ Please note: Chunky logs are not ideal for small or standard-sized stoves and may need to be split before use if your stove has a compact firebox.

If you’ve previously ordered our 8-inch logs and found them a good fit, we recommend sticking with the Normal option unless you’re certain your stove can accommodate the larger Chunky size.

If you're ever unsure or think you may have ordered the wrong size, please contact us – we're always happy to help.

Many suppliers of imported crates or bulk bags often exaggerate the volume of their products. In contrast, our overfilled bags are generously packed, offering real value and transparency you can trust.

Generally a 1.2m crate of eastern European logs will contain approx 0.9m3 stacked logs whereas a Super Jumbo will contain at least 1.15m3 or 30% more.

Brash constitutes a maximum 5% of small bits of burnable wood.  There is very little or no bark on our logs.  Our logs lose most of their bark through our unique drying and screening process ensuring customers are getting even more value for your money.  Imported logs usually have lots of bark as they are dried in rings rather than at Surefire Wood where our logs are split before being kiln dried.  This ensures our logs are dried to the centre of the logs killing any pests or disease while guaranteeing low moisture and higher quality.

All our wood is Woodsure 'Ready to Burn'.

The Woodsure Certification scheme comprehensively checks woodfuel producers to ensure that they produce and supply woodfuel to the correct standard.

In order to avoid sub-standard fuel and the problems it causes, Woodsure Certification tests the products to EN and Önorm standards for woodfuel quality, which are the requirements that boiler manufacturers and installers specify their customers to use.

Customers purchasing from a Woodsure certified producer can be assured that the producer has been checked and tested, and have demonstrated they are able to produce and supply a quality product. The Woodsure logo enables consumers to easily identify whether fuel is of an appropriate standard for their boiler systems.
